Terms of Use

Notice of Terms update (effective September 12, 2026)

We have clarified liability for damages in Section 6, courts for resolving disputes and consumer protections in Section 9, and the process for changing these Terms in Section 10. This update does not change prices, usage allowances, or available features. We will also announce it in the App's update information with the next release.

These Terms of Use (the "Terms") govern your use of AcrossCast (the "App"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

The App transcribes podcast audio, translates it into a language you select, and plays back the translation using synthesized speech. Transcription, translation, and speech synthesis are automated. We do not guarantee the accuracy of their output.

The App reads RSS feeds published by podcast providers. Copyright in each podcast belongs to its respective rights holder.

2. Accounts

The App issues an anonymous user ID per device. Because the ID is tied to the device, a different device receives a different ID. Your subscription, however, is tied to the Apple ID used for the purchase, and is therefore shared across devices signed in with that Apple ID.

3. Subscription

A monthly subscription is required to use the App's audio translation and playback features (transcription, translation, and speech synthesis).

4. Usage Limits

The App applies the following operational limits.

5. Prohibited Conduct

You may not:

6. Disclaimer

We make no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose of transcription, translation, or speech synthesis output.

If you suffer loss due to our breach of contract or tort, we are liable for damages in accordance with applicable law. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for loss caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or that of our representatives or persons we employ.

Podcasts and episodes may become unavailable due to decisions by their providers.

7. Changes to and Discontinuation of the Service

We may change the App or discontinue it.

8. Apple

These Terms are between you and us, not with Apple Inc. ("Apple").

9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. This choice of law does not limit your rights under mandatory consumer protection laws that apply to you (rules that cannot be excluded by agreement).

Proceedings concerning disputes relating to the App may be brought before courts that have jurisdiction under applicable law. These Terms do not restrict your access to courts available to you under that law.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms in accordance with Article 548-4 of the Japanese Civil Code if the change benefits users generally, or if it is consistent with the purpose of the contract and reasonable in light of the need for the change, the appropriateness of the revised terms, and other relevant circumstances.

In such cases, we will set an effective date and, before that date, announce the change, the revised terms, and the effective date on this page or by other appropriate means. If a change materially affects your rights, we will also give advance notice in the App.

Where applicable law requires your consent to a change, we will obtain it. Revised Terms will apply from the specified effective date once the applicable legal requirements have been met.
